A Building Emergency Action Plan provides guidance for building occupants during emergency situations. These plans are developed and maintained by that facility's Building Emergency Response Coordinator and shared with building occupants. Building Emergency Response Coordinators (BERCs) can contact the Office of Emergency Management for assistance with plan development and maintenance. Building Emergency Response Coordinator (BERC):
The Building Emergency Response Coordinator serves as the primary contact for Building Emergency Response efforts. This person works with the Office of Emergency Management to ensure the Building Emergency Action Plan (BEAP) is routinely maintained and distributed to appropriate building occupants. Each occupied building will have a primary Building Emergency Response Coordinator and a backup. Selection of the Building Emergency Response Coordinator will be facilitated by the Office of Emergency Management in consultation with the appropriate Vice President. Some non-occupied buildings may have a Building Emergency Response Coordinator based on hazards that are present in that building. The Office of Emergency Management will conduct training sessions to assist BERCs in their duties. Contact ready@msstate.edu for more information or call 662-325-0214.
